Matched betting profit: measure the net result

Separate deposits, withdrawals, bonus value, costs and actual settled profit without monthly income promises.

The useful calculation

Pre-tax result = settled gains and losses − commissions not already deducted − subscriptions − other costs. Do not subtract the same commission twice. Deposits are transfers of your money; withdrawals can return your original capital.

A hypothetical period

A qualifying result of −0.50 plus a bonus conversion result of +22.70 leaves +22.20 from operations. If the subscription for that period were 20, the result would be +2.20 before other costs and taxes. Subtract the period’s subscription once, not once per operation.

Why results vary

Eligibility, existing accounts, offers, odds, commissions, capital, execution and restrictions all matter. Welcome offers are finite. Recurring offers are not assured. One successful operation cannot establish a repeatable monthly income.

Keep a useful record

Record dates, stakes, liabilities, settlements, fees and time spent. Separate pending balances from final results. Calculate a result per hour as well as a cash result. Do not increase risk to reach a monthly target.
